“A Relaxing Get-a-Way”
Whole House Remodel, Marstons Mills, MA

This existing house – unsafe, antiquated and in much disrepair – could have become a never-ending ‘project house’ instead of a place for relaxation. Instead, the family turned to Encore and relied on their design/build services. As a result, Encore demolished most of the existing structure and constructed a custom designed cottage-style home with enough space for large family gatherings. The homeowners were thrilled to have an up-to-date and mechanically sound home as well as one that maintained a charming Cape Cod appeal.

“From pencil and paper
to green grass and Home”
Demolition and New Construction Home,
Harwichport, MA

The opportunity of a lifetime presented itself to this family: after summering on the Cape with relatives for the past twenty years, the house directly across the street went up for sale. Once purchased, they wanted to build their summer dream home with whimsical details, Cape Cod charm and the modern conveniences of life today. First order of the day was to introduce them to the Design/Build process. This led them to demolish the existing house and create a new home with space, today’s technology and green building aspects that would work for this family of six and the family dog. With exacting attention to detail, the result was a stunning Gambrel main house with a cozy and inviting boat house. Home owner/interior designer worked closely together with both the Encore's project manager and selections designer to turn their vision into reality.

“Old vs. new architecture,
can they become friends?”
Whole House Remodel, Chatham, MA

This charming 1950’s Cape-style home required extensive renovation, updating and additional space to accomplish the homeowners’ desire of that welcoming Cape Cod summer home. Maintaining the period architecture,  and feel of this home was a primary concern; but more light was a must. The existing garage was converted into a family room, an addition was constructed and every nook and cranny of the houses’ interior was revitalized. Outstanding communication along with the quality materials selected successfully blended the old and the new of this amazing restructured house.

A Quiet Spot to Relax & Unwind
Addition and Remodel, Harwich, MA

This family loves to have friends and relatives visit their summer home but it was hard to find that quiet spot at the end of the day to relax and unwind. Therefore the top two items on their wish list was a private sanctuary for the master suite, away from the hustle and bustle of activity, and a kitchen that would be the central gathering place while integrating the gorgeous view of the water, let’s bring the outside in! One of the challenges was to maximize the space without adding the addition that looks like an “addition” from the exterior of the house. The clients wanted the seamless progression of the new and the old throughout. To accomplish this endeavor the client and designer came up with a plan for the garage roof to be removed and raised in order to add a tranquil master suite and office; while below an extra bedroom and full bath were repurposed into a powder room and spacious kitchen that combines cabinetry and island seating with a water view. Detailed planning and execution of rooflines and window placement gives the house flow and symmetry, a legacy of its original foundation.
